What Age Does
Not along ago I dressed for work and while I was combing my hair, I noticed that gray streaks were beginning to rob my black hair of its natural color. I started thinking about age and I asked myself these questions. What does age do to the body? As I look at my body now I see a lot more wrinkles, a little more bulge around the midriff, and a lot more aches and pains in my joints. What does age do to the senses? I don’t hear as well as I used to and find myself asking people to repeat themselves. It also seems like just as soon as I get a new pair of glasses, it is not long before I have trouble threading a needle or reading road signs and small print. The next question I pondered about is What does age do to the mind? Wherever I am, especially at work, I keep a note pad handy. I could not keep all those little bits of information stored in my brain like I once could. Often I have put something in a special place so I would know where it is only to find when I look for it I forgot where I put it. My husband has problems, too, because he can’t remember where I put it either. That leaves the last question about age. What does age do to the soul? For the Christian, age colors the soul with joy for we know the perfect love that God gives to us. Age colors the soul with hope because we know that God is in charge of our lives and that things that come are part of His great eternal plan. Age colors the soul of the saved person with purpose for we know that God put us here for a specific task and we strive to do God’s will. Age colors the soul of the saved person with fulfillment that comes from living a spirit filled life that reflects and demonstrates a Godly character. Lastly age colors the soul with eternal dividends. We can be sure the pay off will be big if we have placed our trust in Christ as our Savior. We write the chapters and pages of our lives and sometimes the pages carry the age marks of disobedience but we can rejoice because God is the proofreader, and He can erase our sins from the sin-stained pages of our lives and as the Eternal Author, He holds the Eternal pen and anything eternal will never age because it has no end.
Scripture Resource: Romans 6:22-23
Prayer: Lord, color my soul with things that bring joy, peace, love, hope, and purpose so that I might experience your loving kindness, mercy, and grace. Color my soul with your forgiveness purging it from all imperfections and flaws.
